Tennessee Inventors Association (TIA) Meeting Newsletters

The Tennessee Inventors Association sends a monthly newsletter to members and visitors. The newsletters contain notes on the previous meeting and information on other items of interest. Some newsletters include pdf copies of the handouts. To view these handouts, Adobe Acrobat or other pdf file reader/viewer program must me installed on your computer.

2018 Meetings
Month	Meeting Description
October	October 2018 John Havaner The TIA meeting on Saturday, October 27, at 10 am, will feature John Havaner, a consulting Chemical Engineer, a free lance writer, and inventor with 25 patents. His patents typically feature statistical process control, neural networks and expert systems. John hopes this presentation will serve as his introduction to area inventors because John wishes to meet and write about East Tennessee inventors and their inventions for interested publications and newspapers.
July	July Barry Anderson and EcoFlaps The July TIA meeting is Saturday, July 28, at 10 am. This month's meeting features Barry Andersen, inventor of EcoFlaps. Barry will tell about the challenges he faced along the way and how he successfully sold his company.
April	April 2018 Jon Keck The April 28 TIA meeting features Jon Keck of 3° Advertising & Marketing Design in Knoxville. His agency is on a mission to establish the client's target demographics, develop a plan of action, and establish a clear and comprehensive message to produce original, creative advertising and marketing materials.
January	January 2018 Real Life Inventing January's presentation is titled "Real Life - Inventing: Up-Close and Personal with Successful Inventors & Entrepreneurs." The presentors are Dale Burress & John Cleaves

2017 Meetings

October	October 2017 JR Charles, the CEO of ParOne TV The October meeting will feature JR Charles, the CEO of ParOne TV. He will be talking about marketing.
September	2017 September Open Meeting The September 23 meeting is an open meeting. One topic on the agenda is the TNInventAcon scheduled for March 21, 2018.
August	August 2017 Ken Spafford, patent attorney Ken Spafford, a Knoxville patent attorney, discussed provisional patent applications at the Saturday, August 26, TIA meeting. Ken discussed how inventors can protect their invention. Ken also answered many questions about patent law. Ken's presentation focused on provisional patent applications.
June	June 2017 Don Scaggs, President of Inventors Network KY The June meeting featured Don Scaggs, an inventor, entrepreneur, speaker, author, consultant, and President of Inventors Network KY, a Lexington, Kentucky, nonprofit that helps inventors and entrepreneurs through education and support services.
April	April 2017 Eddie Hanebuth of Prototyping Solutions The April meeting features Eddie Hanebuth of Prototyping Solutions out of Brimingham, Alabama. Eddie will be bringing samples of 3D printed parts, a scanner, and a vast knowledge of the prototyping field. He has written 17 books. Everyone is welcome to attend.
March	March 2017 Open Meeting The March 2017 TIA meeting was an open meeting were members asked questions of the group. The recent IDEACon trip was discussed.

2016 Meetings
Month	Meeting Description
December	December 2016 The TIA December 2016 meeting is a week early to avoid the conflict with Christmas. This will be our annual brunch meeting. The TIA election of new officers and board members is scheduled for this December meeting. Everyone is asked to show up. It would be a shame for someone to be nominated for a position and not be there to accept it. The ballot for the December 2016 elections is
October	October 2016 Patent Searching for Inventors Tom Kulaga, a local patent attorney and former president of the TIA, will present Patent Searching for Inventors. In order to successfully market an invention, an inventor should have a good understanding of the marketplace. This includes knowing what others have done in the past.
