2015 May Jake Horton on Protecting your IP
The May speaker was Jake Horton, a patent attorney at Pitts & Lake. Jake gave an overview of the changes in patent law and also discuss trademark protection.
Cheers to Jake Horton, a patent attorney with Pitts and Lake for his presentation at May’s meeting! Not only did Jake refresh our memory on basic patent and trademark principles, he was able to help at least three attendees with specific sticking points in their journey to move forward. After the meeting three individuals told me they were stuck and needed direction on how to proceed. They said Jake specifically addressed uncertainties they were having. Two of the individuals were visitors who said they attended after seeing the speaker information in the News Sentinel. Yea!! Advanced notification can make a difference on who will attend!
I want to remind you that several other groups in Knoxville also offer assistance to inventors, entrepreneurs and business folks. I’m a member of Entrepreneurs of Knoxville and the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center. Both of these organizations can help you advance your ideas, and I highly recommend you attend one of their functions to see if they can assist you or meet someone there that can help. All likeminded people, they just attend a different group
